Vaso spoke of her mother’s experience in hospital and made the analogy of looking after a rose – ‘a flower, which is precious, the essence of life, but if not nourished, you lose it. This is the same with people who are being put in boxes and not being looked after like they should be. The best we can offer is truly listening’.

Portrait of dementia - Vaso suggested that with artworks each mark is open to multiple interpretations and expresses where our emotions are at that particular time.
