Speaking of her relationship with her husband who is living with dementia, Julie focused on the power of touch now that her husband can no longer communicate. She explains:
People disappear, it is the only thing I can give,
Tender loving care
Hands are all I can give to my husband- he can no-longer talk or move, but
Touch can soothe
Whatever skills we don’t have we’ve got our voice, we’ve got our hands, we can soothe, hug, support, people living with dementia need our touch, we sometimes forget we can just use our hands to tell them that we are there’.

She is very passionate as she speaks about the power of touch and is very close to tears.
